l - r: mike levy, john moremen, dj bonebrake, allen clapp Biography For the past 20 years, John Moremen has made a name for himself as a powerhouse lead guitar player, melodic songwriter, and solid drummer. A veteran of the Washington, DC music scene, John often sat in with Half Japanese and played in many local bands such as The Beggars (which featured Alan and Eric Brace, now fronting Last train Home), Hyaa!, The Super Jones Affair, and most notably The Neighbors, a two guitar, bass and drums outfit that played straight ahead pop..at a time when straight ahead pop was most unfashionalble. After two albums ("Famous Potatoes" and "Welcome Wagon"), The Neighbors called it Quits in 1989. Seeking new musical inspiration, he moved to San Francisco in 1991. Shortly after John arrived, he began to do solo gigs, and through Young Fresh Fellow Scott McCaughey, met singer-songwriter Jimmy Silva. John joined Silva's Goat 5, recording an album and touring with the group until 1993. Though he continued writing and performing his own songs, he also put his talents to work in the studio and on the road with diverse talents such as The Loud Family's Alison Faith Levy and Half Japanese's Jad Fair. John put out his EP "And the Sun Shines" in 1997 to critical acclaim. He began work (though with many fits and starts) on a full length follow up, and in the meantime contributed songs to several import compilations released in Spain, Sweden, and Japan. In 1999, after sharing several bills with John, The Orange Peels found themselves in a state of flux after losing their drummer. John played with the Peels for a year before joining the band as an official member, signing on while the band was in the middle of recording their sophomore release "So Far." Though infrequently, John has continued to play live as a solo artist, making appearances at BayPop 2001, and playing guitar/drums in Mike Levy's band. Discography solo
