Biography Born in Missouri in 1965 and raised in Germany as an army brat, David Brooks began writing songs as a teenager while teaching himself to play guitar. His first experience playing with other musician in a band was with friends from Connecticut, Spike Priggen and Jeff Wiedershall (bass player and drummer with The Streams, respectively). Spike, a native New Havener, played in many local bands while in his teens, and in later years toured with Dumptruck as bass player, then went on to form his own bands The Hello Strangers, followed by Big Louise (for more information on Spike Priggen, visit his website at www.spikepriggen.com). Jeff Wiedershall had his musical beginning as a drummer for Miracle Legion from their inception, until 1988, later recording his own material under the name Baby Huey. In 1987 Dave Brooks co-founded with Joe Rees a Connecticut band called the Lean-to's. The group recorded two cassette only releases; "Flip the Pillow" (featuring Spike on bass), and "Soup, Soap, & Soul." Watercolour Records in England released a 3-song 7" EP of the group, featuring tracks both "Flip" and "Soup." After the band broke up in 1991, Dave released a 9 song cassette entitled "Red Tide," which was followed by singles on Bus Stop and #1 Records. An LP remains unreleased. Dave went on to study the Culinary Arts, and currently runs his own bakery. Discography
